Club life / Sections

Friendly contacts are just as important as sporting competition and the joy of golf. The Golf Club Ybrig therefore offers active sections for different age groups and needs. In addition to the club's internal events, each section organises its own activities. Only members of the Golf Club Ybrig have access to the sections. Are you curious? Then you are cordially invited to try out playing in one of our sections

Mixed Seniors

There are only two golf clubs in Switzerland that have a "Mixed Seniors" section. One of them is the Ybrig Golf Club. Our mixed seniors group is an active group that not only meets to play golf in Ybrig, but also goes on excursions to other golf courses from time to time. Camaraderie and socialising are never neglected.

Interested? Please get in touch with us: This email address is being protected from spambots. JavaScript must be switched on to display.. Every club member aged 50 and over can join us.

5-team tournament - rainbow 3 ball 2 best ball - 21.09.2023

Wow, once again 39 mixed seniors spent a wonderful day on our beautiful course. The birthday organising committee did their best under the motto "Rainbow" with decorations, many special scores on the course, a nice story for the prizes, the selection of the fine menu including menu card and a well-organised sequence of games. At hole 15, we were welcomed by Captain Orlanda and treated to an aperitif sponsored by our birthday lady Christine Sigrist.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the 16 sponsors (birthday "children"), the golf club for waiving the secretarial fees, Werni Marty for agreeing to the consumption prices, the organising committee and the tournament participants. It was great!

Before the prize-giving ceremony, Ernst Müller and Erika Fierz told us a nice story about the prizes. The prizes were not commonplace, but remember, you can look after them (Ficus elastica) for 80, 90 or even 100 years!

Our winners included:

Trip to Freiburg Breisgau from 14 - 17 August 2023

On Monday, we travelled directly to the Kappellenberg golf course in Bad Bellingen. All the participants arrived on time in what were already very hot and humid temperatures and treated themselves to a drink or two before the round. We found a well-kept but very hilly course. The greens were a bit of a complaint, as they were all littered with brown bumps. However, this did not dampen our spirits. After the round and a cool drink in the clubhouse, we drove to our Schlosshotel Reinach in Freiburg-Munzingen and checked in. After a well-earned shower, we met in the hotel garden for an aperitif and a delicious dinner. It should be mentioned here that the aperitif was offered to us by the hotel on the first two days. The next day we travelled to the Europapark Breisgau golf club. Nestled in a vineyard landscape, we were able to play on a wonderful course. This course also had it all - a constant up and down, but fantastically beautiful! We spent the next day just round the corner, so to speak. The Tuniberg golf course was rather flat to play on, which suited us very well after two exhausting days. In the evening, Doris and Peter Kälin invited us to an aperitif in the hotel garden!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏🙏! After checking out the next day, we travelled to the Freiburg Golf Club in Kirchzarten. After a really nice welcome in the secretary's office, we found ourselves on a fantastically beautiful course. Unfortunately, everything has an end. After a snack, the participants took their leave one by one and made their way home. To summarise: temperatures between 29 and 32 degrees, beautiful golf courses, good-humoured mixed seniors and lots of nice conversations! Great that you were there!

Excursion to Alsace 19 - 22 September 2022

After a journey of just under two hours in private vehicles, we arrived on time at the Markgräferland golf course. We were able to complete a beautiful but strenuous round in glorious weather. Unfortunately, the club restaurant was closed that day, so we travelled straight to our hotel Domaine du Moulin in Ensisheim to check in. After an aperitif at the hotel bar, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the hotel restaurant. The next morning we travelled on to the Bouleaux golf course. This course really had it all! There were lots of trees and the fairways, which had been severely stressed by the summer heat, were not easy to play. Nevertheless, we enjoyed this sunny day and were able to have a bite to eat and a drink in the clubhouse after the round. After dinner, a quiz was handed out with twenty questions. The winners were rewarded with new golf balls. On Wednesday we travelled to the Alsace Links golf course. I'd rather not talk about the club restaurant, the cloakroom and the toilet facilities at this point 😴😴😴🙈🙈🙈🙈! The course was very nice, but the greens were very undulating and therefore difficult to read. For our putting competition on this course, everyone was therefore challenged a little. Our winners were rewarded with home-made delicacies after dinner! After breakfast on Thursday, it was time to pack up, check out and head to the Saint Apollinaire golf course. We were able to play on the Tree Garden course, as a tournament was being organised by the European Challenge Tour on the Fruit Garden course. A really beautiful course, but very steep up and down! After this last round, a few said goodbye immediately, others enjoyed an aperitif on the sunny terrace and many stayed for dinner.

To summarise: four days of dream weather, very beautiful golf courses, a wonderful hotel with good food and last but not least: 26 cheerful and lovely mixed seniors! It was great with you, thank you very much!

5-man tournament Las Vegas Scramble 01.09.2022

Under the motto "LUCK...🍀🐞 - the dice 🎲 decides", 45 good-humoured golfers took to the starting line and tried their luck! Our ranger, Louis Hensler, explained the rules of the game (3 flights: everyone tees off, then the dice are rolled; if 1-2-3 is rolled, the ball of the respective player must continue to be hit; if a 4-5-6 is rolled, the best ball may continue to be hit; this is repeated after each shot until the hole is holed). Hole 7 was played nearest to the "Happy Birthday Ballon" and hole 15 nearest to the pin. At the Blitzhäuschen (hole 15) we were spoilt with beer, wine, Prosecco etc. by our Captain Orlanda!
Thank you very much for the bar, dear Orlanda!

However, this tournament would not have been possible without our birthday sponsors and the organising committee! Many thanks to all sponsors and the organising committee Regina Zingg, Edith Grond, Marie Villoz and Werner Meienberg!

Thanks also go to Werni Marty for his extremely generous sponsorship of the prizes and to the club manager, Chrigi Hiestand, for waiving the secretarial fees.

Excursion to Weissensberg and Lindau from 18 \ 19 August 2021

Thirty loyal MS travelled individually directly to the Weissensberg golf course. As soon as the first flight started, the first rays of sunshine arrived and we were able to play golf in pleasant temperatures. We found a beautiful and well-kept course. After the round, we met up again on the marvellous clubhouse terrace for a drink and a bite to eat. Our next stop was the Hotel Edita in Scheidegg. After checking in and changing, we met outside for an aperitif in the lounge chairs and then headed inside for a delicious dinner. The next morning, fortified with a hearty breakfast, our excursion continued to the Lindau-Bad Schachen golf course. Another wonderfully warm day, a beautiful course with marvellous fields of flowers and lots of fruit trees; simply wonderful. After refreshments in the clubhouse, everyone left one after the other, some heading home, others back to the hotel or simply one house further on. Orlanda and I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves and will be back next time! A few great impressions......

Mixed Seniors HCP Tournament from 05.08.2021

Once again, all 26 registered MS started in the rain! The atmosphere was not bad at all, as everyone knew what it felt like to play in the rain. Enough is enough though; after two and a half hours there was a downpour accompanied by squalls and thunder. Thankfully, everyone was able to finish at least nine holes before we had to abandon the tournament. We then had nine holes scored, but not handicap-relevant. After a warm shower, we were spontaneously invited to an aperitif riche by our dear Ruth Eschenmoser.
Many thanks again at this point, dear Ruth.

The lucky tournament winners were:

1st gross: Ringler Patrik

Excursion to Brand/Braz/Rankweil from 7 - 9 June 2021

All 28 participants arrived in Brand on time for their tee-off time and we were able to start in dry weather. We found a beautifully situated and well-kept course. Everyone got a little wet from time to time, but the sun also made an appearance from time to time. In the evening, we enjoyed an aperitif and a delicious dinner together. On the second day, after a wonderful breakfast buffet, we travelled to the Braz golf course in glorious sunshine and pleasant temperatures. This course was also in excellent condition and almost all of us were able to finish the round. On this day too, it suddenly became dark in the sky and it started to rain like buckets. On the third day, we were spoilt with plenty of sunshine and were able to let off steam on the flat and long fairways. Here we played a challenge (four ball better ball) and Liz Rosenberger with Alfred Kohler, Trudi Rusca with Rita Meienberg won this game. After a small snack in the beautiful clubhouse, we said our goodbyes and drove home in unspeakable downpours.

IT WAS BEAUTIFUL ......

2020 season

Mixed Seniors give an take 4 racket final tournament from 1.10.2020

We spent a wonderful and autumnally colourful day on our well-tended course. On some holes, we would have liked to have had one more club with us, but all players were checked by our starter Chris to ensure that only four clubs were in the bag.

Before dinner we were invited to an aperitif by Doris and Peter Kälin. Many thanks to both of you!

Once everyone had taken their place at the table, we were treated to a delicious meal by the kitchen team, which was donated from our cash box.

Later, Orlanda informed us about the upcoming 2021 season and thanked our club manager Christian, the lovely girls Petra and Janine from the secretariat, Werni Marty and his excellent kitchen and service team, the greenkeepers and our good souls Doris and Daniela for the good cooperation,  the well-kept place and the clean premises.

On behalf of the participants, Martha presented Orlanda and me with an extremely generous voucher for our efforts in the past season, for which we would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again. Dear Orlanda, thank you once again for the beautiful flower arrangement you presented me with.

As the name "give and take" suggests, all participants brought a small gift and everyone was allowed to take something home with them. As every year, everyone started at the back of the results list and picked up a gift in order up to first place.

Reminder:

1st gross: Liz Rosenberger
1st net: Denise Roth
2nd net: Rita Meienberg
3rd net: Erika Fierz

Mixed Seniors trip to Oberstaufen 30.8.-1.9.2020

On the trip to Oberstaufen, Peter was still sleeping a little and we all arrived in pouring rain. Nobody wanted to play golf in the wet, so we had a snack first. Later, some of us went to the bar to play, while others spent a little time in the village. From 6.30 pm, we were invited by the hotel to an aperitif in the bar, and the atmosphere was very good despite the lost golf day. After a delicious 5-course meal, most of us went to the bar for a nightcap. It should be noted that we always had to wear a mask when walking or standing in the hotel tract. If we forgot it, we were punished with nasty looks from other guests and had to put it on immediately.

On Monday, we were finally able to play golf on the Buflinger Hausplatz. The course was beautiful, but very strenuous.

After the round, some people rested in their rooms, others travelled to Immenstadt or the village of Oberstaufen and ended the day in this way until dinner at the hotel. Unfortunately, it rained again on the last day and all but one flight went home after breakfast, travelled on or stayed on for a few more days. The rain-resistant flight played nine holes twice on the Scheidegg golf course before travelling home and only got a little wet on the first seven holes.

Our excursionists with and without masks......

Mixed Seniors Tour Andermatt/Sedrun 9/10 July 2020

In bright sunshine, all 35 participants gradually arrived at the golf course in Andermatt in good spirits from 9am. The first flight started at 9.36 a.m. and then continued at 12-minute intervals. They played on a very well-kept and challenging course and walked many kilometres up and down the course. After the round, everyone met up in the clubhouse on the beautiful terrace until it was time to set off on the journey to Sedrun. Once everyone had checked into the "Cruna" hotel and settled into their rooms, we met in the billiard room for an aperitif. Afterwards, we enjoyed a wonderful 4-course meal. All those who were not yet tired met outside for a Schlumi.

On the second day, the weather was again kind to us and we were once again able to drive onto the Sedrun golf course in the sunshine, fuelled by a delicious breakfast buffet, and greet Jimmy. The joy of seeing him again was great. But this course really had it all; steep downhill, steep uphill etc. etc. All in all, however, it was beautiful again. When we were surprised by heavy rain in the afternoon, not everyone was sad when it was no longer possible to continue playing. After some refreshments in the clubhouse, Jimmy announced the ranking for the putts (ladies/men) and nearest to the pin (ladies/men). The prizes (Grisons golf balls in original packaging) were sponsored by Sedrun Golf Club.

The winners were:
Putts: Liz Rosenberger and Peter Kälin
Nearest to the pin: Erika Fierz and Diego Rusca
