In addition to the club's internal events, each section organises its own activities. Only members of the Golf Club Ybrig have access to the sections. Are you curious? Seniors - Spring trip from 16 to 19 April 2024
to Lombardy / Bergamo, Italy
32 senior citizens took part in the legendary spring trip for senior citizens, which this time took us to the Bergamo region.
Organised for the first time by Urs and Fredy, the trip set off in a car early in the morning on 16 April in snowfall and the first flight started at 11.00 a.m. on the Pinetina GC in sunny weather but with a very strong, stormy wind. We then travelled on to the Hotel Settecento near Bergamo, where we were able to start the evening meal with a great welcome drink.
The other golf courses we played were Villa Paradiso on Wednesday and Bergamo L'Albenza on Thursday, where we were able to celebrate a hole in one from Shadow as a highlight. Finally, on Friday, we played the GC Barlassina, which unfortunately looked more like a building site than a well-maintained golf course for the first few holes.
On the return journey, we made another stop at the Hotel La Perla in San Antonino (TI), where we once again enjoyed a nice aperitif and a delicious dinner. The return journey ended late in the evening with snowfall again. We were wonderfully lucky with the weather on our trip.

The last senior tournament of the season was also held in very good, warm golfing weather. A glance at the slopes, which are usually resplendent in glorious autumn colours at this time of year, shows that this year is different. There is still almost no trace of colour.
In keeping with the beautiful weather, many excellent results were once again achieved. A number of players achieved a net score of 36 or more points.
After the lavish aperitif outside and the delicious autumnal main course in the restaurant, our captain Urs was able to hand out a few gifts in the form of flowers and high-proof liquids as a heartfelt thank you for the good cooperation. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the team in the secretariat and the cleaning service, the restaurant team with service and kitchen and, of course, the greenkeepers and rangers. They have all made a very enjoyable season possible for us. Thank you!
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Bruno Inauen addressed a few words to our large group and thanked all the seniors for their numerous participations and in particular the captain's team for organising the many events. We are already looking forward to the next season.

Result Race to Hoch-Ybrig:
The results of the "Race to Hoch-Ybrig 2023" were then eagerly awaited. A total of six tournaments were included in this competition throughout the season, with the three best net scores being added together. A total of 74 seniors took part in at least one of these tournaments. The ranking list can be here can be downloaded.
Giancarlo Scopel won this race with an excellent 120 points, ahead of Josef Helbling (114) and tied on 112 points with Ernst Holenstein and Marcel Tanner.
Giancarlo was therefore able to accept the prize (a personalised season ticket for Hoch-Ybrig) from Wendel, the sponsor. Good skiing!
In addition, the next best participants each received a prize in the form of vouchers for a season or day ticket. Many thanks to Wendel and Hoch-Ybrig AG for the generous prizes.
There will be another chance next year! We are all looking forward to it.

Seniors - Club Championship from 28 September 2023
45 senior citizens took part in the 2023 Senior Club Championships. In wonderfully sunny, very warm autumn weather, the 2023 senior club champion was played in 3-person flights in single stroke play (with a maximum par plus four). The golf course in Ybrig is in good condition. Accordingly, good results were achieved.
Eric Güller and Patrik Etter played the best rounds ex aequo with 75 strokes, with Eric being crowned the new senior club champion due to the better back holes. Congratulations to him! Eric was able to accept the trophy and a nice prize sponsored by the Senior Club Champion 2022 Michi Donabauer. Many thanks Michi!
Wendel Keller shone with a very good round in the net classification with 65 net strokes.
The players rounded off the evening with a nice aperitif and a delicious raclette from the kitchen.

Seniors friendship meeting with seniors GC Unterengstringen from 14 September 2023
A total of 20 guests accepted our invitation to the friendship meeting at our beautiful golf course, which presented itself in wonderful late summer weather. The sun peeped through from time to time, it was often a little cloudy with a mild temperature, and above all: not a drop of rain.
We played four ball better ball according to Stableford, with the first flight consisting of four Ybriger seniors, otherwise we always managed to place a guest and a Ybriger in the two-man teams.
It was a very successful event and everyone was delighted. You could really feel the joy of the players during the game and at the aperitif and dinner afterwards. Wonderful. The results were also impressive:

Today's tournament was once again a "normal" single Stableford over 18 holes. The weather was also normal once again, a little cool in autumn, but good golfing weather. There were 34 seniors at the start, 17 each for the older and younger players. After a well-earned aperitif, we were once again able to enjoy a delicious dinner. Before dessert, the ranking was announced and prizes awarded.

Seniors friendship meeting with seniors GC Kyburg from 24 August 2023
We welcomed 25 guests from Kyburg in glorious, hot weather. The game was played in flights of 4 players in the "Swiss PGA Scramble", which is not often played in Ybrig and is not actually a scramble, but a game with a selection drive. After the first shot, a ball was selected, from which each player in the flight then played their ball to the end. However, each player had to contribute at least three tee shots. The scoring was then "4 ball 3 best ball", i.e. only the best three scores on each hole were counted.
It was a very successful event, everyone was enthusiastic. Accordingly, the results were also good.
One team won the gross competition with 97 gross points, while 149 net points were achieved in the net competition.

At 6 p.m. we were treated to an aperitif outside, where the temperature became very pleasant after the sun went down. A delicious dinner rounded off the beautiful day and after the main course, the prizes were presented to the most successful teams and the winners of the special competitions. Because the predicted thunderstorm came after all, the picture had to be taken indoors. The photo shows only happy faces:

Senior tournament on 27 July 2023 - 2nd Ryder Cup
For the second time, the seniors played a Ryder Cup format match. It was once again a complete success with lots of fun on both sides. The competition between the teams "Innerschwyz und Einsiedeln" and "Usserschwyz" was played in dry, very good golfing weather. Eleven flights of four with two players from each team competed against each other in fourballs match play.

There was a hard fight, sometimes right up to the 18th hole, and three flights ended in a draw. In the end, the "Innerschwyz and Einsiedeln" team came out on top with 6.5 to 4.5 points, so the players from this team were each able to collect a bottle of wine as a prize:
There was also a special nearest to the pin competition on two holes, each with a wine prize sponsored by "bona aestimare". The successful players were:

Senior tournament on 13 July 2023 - Captain's Trophy
The weather officer didn't really know what he wanted at this tournament. For the most part it was dry, but at times the wet did come as a nuisance. 46 seniors played for the Captain's Trophy and the sponsored prizes.
As a special feature, there was a parallel ranking of the participating ASGS members GCY (Swiss Seniors Tour by ASGS).

Senior Triangulaire with Lenzerheide and Bad Ragaz in Lenzerheide from 6 July 2023
At the invitation of Captain Jean-Pierre Göbel of the Lenzerheide Golf Club, 24 GCY seniors travelled to Lenzerheide on 6 July 2023.
We were greeted by the best golfing weather, a beautifully maintained golf course and a warm welcome from the secretariat. Everything was perfectly prepared. Many thanks to all the organisers and helpers!
The starting list showed a somewhat uneven ratio of the three clubs. We had the largest group with 25 players, Lenzerheide had 20 players and Bad Ragaz had 9 players. For this reason, some players from Ybrig had to make do with colleagues from their own club in the flight, but this did not detract from the fun.
Of course, a brief downpour was also part of the programme.
Thanks to the large canopy, the lovely aperitif could also be enjoyed on the terrace. The dinner that followed was excellent. Many thanks for the generous hospitality.
At the prize-giving ceremony, the winning teams were presented with some great prizes, including some from Ybrig.
Next year's Triangulaire will take place on 11 July 2024 in Ybrig, as our captain announced. We are already looking forward to a convivial event next year.
Senior invitational tournament on 29 June 2023
The invitation tournament for seniors took place on 29 June 2023 in ideal golfing weather. We welcomed 18 guests from various Swiss and foreign golf clubs and ASGI / Migros Golfcard as well as 26 Ybrig seniors. The tournament was played over 18 holes according to the "Four Ball Better Ball" Stableford format.
It was a very successful event, even though the last two flights caught a few drops of rain and unfortunately the aperitif could not be enjoyed outside. After the excellent main course in the restaurant, the prize-giving ceremony took place. Everyone was excited.

Senior tournament on 22 June 2023
Today's tournament took place with threatening clouds and humid but dry weather. Two frontnines were played. The results were impressive. Several players scored 36 or more Stableford points, both among the over-70s and the younger players.
The well-earned aperitif was enjoyed on the terrace, with some participants constantly watching the cloud animation on their mobile phones. With the first drops of rain, we were then able to move into the restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal. Before dessert, the The prize-giving ceremony with distribution of prizes took place. A winners' photo was not taken this time due to the persistent rain.

Senior tournament on 25 May 2023
After the opening tournament for the seniors, planned for 11 May 2023, fell through, the seniors were looking forward to today's tournament all the more. The weather was kind to us, but the course was still soft, so unfortunately the players who rely on a cart were not yet able to play. It should work out next time.
Despite the rule "lay better on the whole course", the results (with exceptions) were rather mediocre, with the older players, for example, winning with 31 Stableford points.
After a well-deserved aperitif and a delicious meal, everyone was eagerly awaiting the ranking announcement and prize distribution.

ASGS Team Matchplay Region OST, preliminary round, on Friday, 19 May 2023, against the seniors of GC Unterengstringen at Golf Club Ybrig.
In cold temperatures and heavy ground, 6 senior golfers each from the Ybrig and Unterengstringen GCs battled it out in three flights against each other and the course, which had only been partially mown due to continuous rain. At least it stayed dry from above and the adverse conditions were the same for every pairing.
The guests from Unterengstringen were able to celebrate their victory after the fair match. Congratulations!
After a delicious dinner, everyone remained happy and cheerful.

Seniors - Spring trip from 18 to 21 April 2023
to Piedmont, Italy
32 senior citizens took part in the already legendary spring trip to Piedmont. Perfectly organised by Bruno Hilber, the trip departed early in the morning on 18 April by car and the first flight started at 11.30 a.m. on the GC Castelconturbia. We then travelled on to our accommodation in San Francesco al Campo (TO). The other golf courses played were GC Royal Park I Roveri, GC Torino La Mandria and finally GC Bogogno on the return journey.
At the concluding drinks reception at the Hotel La Perla in San Antonino (TI), Bruno Hilber sadly informed us that this was the last trip he had organised. A pity, but very understandable after the almost countless organisations that he has organised with a great deal of effort and passion. A big thank you and a big round of applause at this point too, dear Bruno. It was simply wonderful!

2022 season

Seniors - Autumn trip from 15 to 22 October 2022 to Sotogrande, Spain
Nine sun-hungry senior citizens made their way to Spain on 15 October. After a normal flight to Malaga, they travelled by VIP bus to the hotel in Sotogrande.
In very good golfing weather, we played fun tournaments (counting penalty points, scramble, Viennese waltz, bingo bango, bongo, "flag" competition) on six very different courses according to the motto "the last one bites the dogs" ....
There was also plenty of socialising after the games and at aperitifs and dinners at various beautiful locations in the vicinity of the hotel.
On Saturday we were already heading home again, or that was the plan. Swiss "treated" us to an extra night in Malaga because the flight was cancelled shortly before take-off. Getting off the plane again, collecting our luggage, looking for a hotel and restaurant etc. Wouldn't have been necessary!

Result Race to Hoch-Ybrig:
The results of the "Race to Hoch-Ybrig 2022" were then eagerly awaited. A total of seven tournaments were included in this competition throughout the season, with the three best net scores being added together. A total of 83 seniors took part in at least one of these tournaments. The Ranking list can here can be downloaded.
Since it was already known before today's last tournament that our sponsor Wendel was in the lead with 117 points, some had to make a special effort to knock the sponsor out of first place. But they did not succeed! Walter Hubli and Hermann Linder almost made it, both with 116 points. Bravo Wendel!
But what about the prize (a personalised season ticket for Hoch-Ybrig), will it go home with the sponsor? Certainly not, says Wendel generously and makes two suggestions: Give the prize to the captain or raffle it off? The overwhelming majority in the poll decided to give the prize to our captain. In addition, the next best and a few others were each given a day ticket. Many thanks to Wendel and Hoch-Ybrig AG for the generous prizes.
There will be another chance next year!
Seniors - Club Championship from 22 September 2022
48 seniors took part in the 2022 Club Championships. In wonderfully sunny golfing weather, the senior club champion 2022 was played in 3-person flights in single stroke play. The golf course in Ybrig is in perfect condition. Some very good results were achieved.
Max Steinegger played a fabulous par round with 70 strokes. We congratulated Max Steinegger on winning the day (gross and net) and presented him with the well-deserved prize.
However, an unwritten law of the seniors at Golf Club Ybrig stipulates that only those who compete in at least two senior club tournaments can become club champions. Michi Donabauer was crowned Senior Club Champion 2022 with 76 strokes.
The players rounded off the evening with a delicious aperitif and an exquisite Valais raclette. Many thanks also to Dani Schicker for organising the culinary evening programme (and of course Louis Henseler for his assistance).

Friendship meeting with Senior Golf Unterengstringen on 14 September 2022
On Wednesday, 14 September 2022, we GCY seniors were invited to the now traditional friendship meeting with the seniors of Golf Unterengstringen. Thank you very much for this invitation.
The weather was better than expected, with only a few sprinkles of rain. As soon as the umbrella was open, you could close it again.
The "Four Ball Better Ball, Colour Mix" format (the holes were played in succession from the red, blue, yellow and white tees) made the two rounds on the 9-hole course very varied. A good idea and an interesting experience!
After a good aperitif, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the "NINETEEN", where the senior captain of the Unterengstringers, Peter Studer, announced the ranking and distributed the prizes and also thanked the various sponsors from the ranks of the hosts. We would like to join them in expressing our thanks!

This was the fifth tournament to count towards the ranking.
Small interim ranking after five tournaments:
18 seniors have collected more than 100 points (the best three count). To get to the top, 117 points have to be beaten. The race is still open! Excitement is guaranteed.
Senior invitational tournament on 11 August 2022
On 11 August 2022, the seniors' invitational tournament took place in ideal golfing weather. We welcomed 19 guests and 25 Ybrig seniors and played four ball better ball over 18 holes.
It was a very successful event, despite the absence of some colleagues who instead competed at the Lägern Golf Club and celebrated their promotion back to Group B at the ASGS Interclub 60+. Congratulations!
The aperitif could be enjoyed outside in the mild temperature. There was plenty to talk about during the delicious main course in the restaurant, where we were able to enjoy other birdies on our plates after playing several birdies on the golf course.

Senior tournament from 21. July 2022 - Captain's Trophy
The fifth senior tournament of the season was also held in pleasant golfing weather. The results were correspondingly good.
As a special feature, there was a parallel ranking of the participating ASGS members GCY (Swiss Seniors Tour by ASGS).
After a well-earned aperitif outside and a delicious main course in the restaurant, the captain proceeded to announce the winners and hand out their prizes:

Senior tournament on 7 July 2022 - 1st Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup, which was organised for the first time for the seniors, was a success. In dry but relatively cool weather, a competition was held between the teams "Innerschwyz und Einsiedeln" and "Usserschwyz". Ten flights of four with two players from each of the two teams competed against each other in fourballs match play.

The third senior tournament of the season was played in good weather. Although the tournament was advertised as 2 times front nine, we were able to let off steam on all 18 holes to everyone's delight.

ASGS Single Matchplay Region EAST - 1/8 Final from 10.06.2022
As GCY Senior Club Champion 2021, Phil Allington (HCP 10.6) competed against Jörg Roth (HCP 6.6) from OSGC Niederbüren in the 1/8 final at GCC Breitenloo on 10 June 2022.
Phil had a great day in Breitenloo. At beautiful weather he won on an excellent course with 5 on after 14 holes (only 4 to play). Bravo Phil and good luck in the 1/4 final against Lutz Mieschke, GC Breitenloo (HCP 0.9)!
ASGS Team Matchplay Region OST on Friday, 10 June 2022, against the seniors of GCC Zumikon at Golf Club Ybrig.
The pairings for this 1/8 final were very evenly matched. The matches were as close as expected. Playing for the GCY were: Michi Donabauer, Walti Hubli, Ernst Holenstein, Patrick Copery, Paul Oechslin and Wendel Keller. After 6 singles matches, the score was 3:3.
Michi Donabauer faced the play-off against Jean Milot. They shared the first hole on 18. Michi made a miraculous save. Then it was on to hole 10, where Michi missed the decisive putt by a very narrow margin.

Senior tournament on 9 June 2022
The weather was not particularly helpful at our second senior tournament of the season. The course was very wet due to recent downpours, but still playable. The rule "lay better on the whole course" also helped. In the meantime, the sun came out, but unfortunately it was wet again from above. Nevertheless, the majority played well.
Once again, great prizes awaited the best golfers of the day.

The Ybrig seniors were invited to a friendly tournament at Kyburg Golf Club on Thursday, 19 May 2022. The surprising "shamble tournament" was a hit. Every team member was able to make their contribution to the overall result.

This year's opening tournament of the senior section took place in perfect weather conditions. Many senior citizens were seen swinging their golf clubs in shorts. The "Bschütti" only arrived when, after an aperitif outside We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the newly designed golf restaurant in the evening sun.
The prizes for the best golfers of the day were initially still nicely packaged.

Triangulaire Bad Ragaz / Lenzerheide / Ybrig from 27 April 2022
A wonderful senior triangulaire at the Golf Club Bad Ragaz with our golfing friends from Bad Ragaz and Lenzerheide. Everything was just right. A friendly reception at the secretariat, a warm welcome from Captain Marco Rampone perfectly organised tournament, a fantastic kitchen, an excellent service brigade. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic event.
Last but not least, our captain, Urs Imhof, took care of everything, with his "nudge prayers" to St Peter for a sunny and warm spring day.

ASGS information / become a member of ASGS
Dear GCY Senior
Some of our senior golfers have joined the Association Senior Golf Switzerland (ASGS) and enjoy the various events organised by the ASGS. Tournaments are regularly organised at national and regional level.
Around 2500 senior citizens are organised in the ASGS throughout Switzerland, divided into four regions. The Ybrig Golf Club belongs to the East region.
Participation in the ASGS is open to any senior who is a member of an ASG club. Currently, around 20 seniors from GC Ybrig are members of the ASGS. Find out everything you need to know about events and results on the ASGS website. If you would like to become a member, please send the application form, which you can print out from the ASGS website, to your captain.
